On May 16, the 8th Academic Forum on “Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture and Ideological and Political Education,” together with a symposium on “The Cultural Foundations andthe Quality-OrientedDevelopment of Ideological and Political Education,” was held in Nanjing.The forum was hosted by the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at Southeast University, together with the Southeast University Research Base of the Jiangsu Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It was organized by the Research Center for Chinese Culture and the Developmentof 21st-Century Marxism and the School of Marxism at Southeast University. More than 80 experts and scholars from over 40 leading universities and research institutes across China attended the forum.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Song Xiaoyan, Party Secretary of the School of Marxism at Southeast University. Opening remarks were delivered by Gu Yonghong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Southeast University Committee, Director of the Publicity Department, and Executive Vice President of the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics at Southeast University.
Focusing on the development of an independent knowledge system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences, the forum addressed key topics including “knowledge production and value reshaping”and“interpretations of the relationship between culture and ideological and political education.” Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the overarching theme of “The Foundations of Cultural Strength and Substantive Development of Ideological and Political Education.”
The forum featured keynote presentations by distinguished scholars, including Chen Xixi, Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Zhang Yunyi, Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Normal University; Li Chenggui, Professor at Nanjing University; Wang Yan, Professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Xiang Jiuyu, Professor at Wuhan University; Du Yuhua, Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Dong Yahua, Professor at Fudan University; Shi Shuchen, Professor at Shanghai Normal University; Li Liaoning, Professor at Sichuan University; Dai Yuqi, Professor at Zhejiang University; and Ding Ke, Professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
